Bilal Shaukat, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist in the Pinellas Park area. He is fellowship-trained in treating all medical and surgical retinal diseases, including patients with diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal tears, and detachments. Dr. Shaukat and the retina team are involved in cutting-edge clinical trials in the treatment of macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Shaukat is passionate about being a retina specialist.
“Ophthalmology and the retina specialty, particularly, are on the cutting edge of medicine. The treatments and surgeries we can perform in this field can potentially prevent total loss of vision and even improve vision,” said Dr. Shaukat. “I know how important sight is to every patient, and I love working in a field where I can make a positive difference in a patient’s quality of life.”
Dr. Shaukat was a Surgical Retina Fellow at Retina Associates Chicago/Cook County Hospital System and Chief Resident at LSUHSC-Shreveport Ophthalmology. He graduated from Drexel University, College of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Shaukat enjoys exercising and watching sports like soccer and Formula One Racing. He also likes to travel with family and friends.
