Polarized Lenses
Polarized lenses are created with an embedded chemical film where the molecules are lined up to create “slots” through which light passes. Similar to horizontal blinds that block all light except that which passes through the openings. With polarized lenses, these “slots” are parallel. This means the lens will only allow horizontal rays of light through.
Polarized lenses are popular with people who enjoy water sports like boaters and fishermen. The polarized lenses are great at blocking vertically-aligned light waves bouncing off the water’s surface. They’re also effective at blocking the sun’s ray off the windshield of a car.
Polarized lens come in various colors and also a mirror coating option. Polycarbonate only.
Lens Material
Below are some of the common lens materials we provide for sunglasses. High-index Plastic – these are the thinnest lenses available and are very lightweight. They block 100% of UV rays. Polycarbonate – these lenses have superior impact resistance, and although they are a bit thicker, they are lighter than high-index plastic lenses. They block 100% of UV rays. CR-39 Plastic – these lenses provide excellent optics at a low cost, but they are a bit thicker and heavier than other options. Our Sunglasses Frames
