St. Petersburg, FL  – Dr. John Wachter, Director of Clinical Operations, is proud to welcome Bilal Shaukat, MD to Eye Associates of Pinellas. He will begin seeing patients on Sept. 6 at the Pinellas Park location. 

Dr. Bilal Shaukat is an Ophthalmologist specializing in retinal diseases and surgery. He cares for patients with retinal detachments and tears, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disorders, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, ocular injuries and other retinal disorders and diseases. He recently completed a Surgical Retina Fellowship at Retina Associates Chicago/Cook County Hospital System and served as Chief Resident at LSUHSC-Shreveport Ophthalmology before that. He graduated from Drexel University, College of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Shaukat is passionate about being a retina specialist. “Ophthalmology and the retina specialty, particularly, are on the cutting edge of medicine. The treatments and surgeries we can perform in this field can potentially prevent total loss of vision and even improve vision,” said Dr. Shaukat. “I know how important sight is to every patient, and I love working in a field where I can make a positive difference in a patient’s quality of life.
